I don't really think materials really matter as long as it has a stable build up. Most of the robots are not classified as strong because of its poor designing and use of soft metals. Generally to provide robots more strength, steel is used as it is one of the most strongest materials. But I wouldn't say that steel alone can provide robot immense strength, other materials matters as well because there are many parts in a robots body where strong metals can't give perfect results like any other metal. Especially places where bends or joints are located can't be made with a steel, metals like aluminium, brass and plexiglass are used as well. And I've never heard of a robot using titanium as a raw material so I wouldn't recommend it.
