What's in the box?
Three closed boxes have either apples, oranges,or both, and they are labeled apples, oranges, and both. However, you're told that each of the labels are wrong. You may reach into one of the boxes and pull out only one fruit.
Which box should you removed a fruit from to determine the contents of all three boxes?
Box labelled ‘Both’.
For this to be wrong it has to have all oranges or all apples.
If an apple comes out, then the box labelled ‘orange’ cannot have oranges, which must therefore be in the box labelled ‘apple’, which means, the box labelled ‘orange’ will have both fruits.
Likewise if you pul out an orange, apples will be in the box labelled ‘orange’ and the one labelled ‘apple’ will have both.
