What is WAF?

Did you know it just takes few seconds to put your website down? Denial of Service (DoS) is a flooding mechanism that sends huge data packets in short period of time over a network to a system. If a system can't handle that traffic it will eventually crash. Using this mechanism to attack and prevent providing service is called DoS.

DoS can affect website or systems of organizations hugely. Downtime brings loss to the company. It can affect your website too if you didn't have a Web Application Firewall (WAF). WAF provides rate limiting and blacklisting features for websites. So it only allows traffic of defined size alone. Anything beyond that will be blocked. Cloudflare is one of the WAF with many other powerful fratures available.
