Stub is a dummy program or component, the code is not ready for testing.

It is used for testing that means in a project if there are 4 modules and last is remaining and there is no time then we will use dummy program to complete that last module and we will run whole 4 modules also.

Stubs are dummy modules and are only created for test purposes. They are used during Top-down integration testing, in order to simulate the behaviour of the lower level modules that are not yet integrated. Stubs are the modules that act as temporary replacement for a called module and give the same output as that of the actual product.

Stubs are also used when the software needs to interact with an external system.

For eg. suppose you have three different modules : Login, Home, User. Suppose login module is ready for test, but the two minor modules Home and User, are not ready yet for testing.
At this time, we write a piece of dummy code, which simulates the called methods of Home and User. These dummy pieces of code are the stubs.
