    The invention of new fluorescence-based chemical sensor has facilitated the myriad potential applications such as monitoring oxygen, inorganic gases, volatile organic compounds, biochemical compounds etc, as the technology is versatile, compact and inexpensive in nature. Depending upon the vital criteria’s of accuracy, precision, cost and the ability to meet the environmental range of the intended application, proper sensor can be chosen for the military control based subsystem. Sensor web and video sensor technology are two widely applied sensor techniques, in which Sensor Web is a type of sensor network or geographic information system (GIS) well suited for environmental monitoring and control, where as video sensor technology is used for digital image analysis. In sensor web technology, we have a wirelessly connected shapeless network of unevenly distributed sensor platform or pods, which is very much different from the TCP/IP-like network with respect to its synchronous and router-free nature.

    Because of this unique architecture every pod in the network knows what is happening with every other pod throughout the Sensor Web at each measurement cycle. The main requirements for a video sensor technology is an application software and a computer that acts as the carrier platform, which is usually equipped with a Linux or Microsoft operating system upon which the application software works. By programming the digital algorithms the interpretation of digital images and frame rates can be carried out. The video sensor is very much helpful in evaluating the scenes und sequences within an image section of a (CCD) camera.

The BLUE EYES technology aims at creating computational machines that have perceptual and sensory ability like those of human beings. It uses non-obtrusige sensing method, employing most modern video cameras and microphones to identifies the users actions through the use of imparted sensory abilities . The machine can understand what a user wants, where he is looking at, and even realize his physical or emotional states.

    The Smart NoteTaker is such a helpful product that satisfies the needs of the people in today's technologic and fast life. This product can be used in many ways. The Smart NoteTaker provides taking fast and easy notes to people who are busy one's self with something. With the help of Smart NoteTaker, people will be able to write notes on the air, while being busy with their work. The written note will be stored on the memory chip of the pen, and will be able to read in digital medium after the job has done. This will save time and facilitate life.
    The Smart NoteTaker is good and helpful for blinds that think and write freely. Another place, where our product can play an important role, is where two people talks on the phone. The subscribers are apart from each other while their talk, and they may want to use figures or texts to understand themselves better. It's also useful especially for instructors in presentations. The instructors may not want to present the lecture in front of the board. The drawn figure can be processed and directly sent to the server computer in the room. The server computer then can broadcast the drawn shape through network to all of the computers which are present in the room. By this way, the lectures are aimed to be more efficient and fun. This product will be simple but powerful. The product will be able to sense 3D shapes and motions that user tries to draw. The sensed information will be processed and transferred to the memory chip and then will be monitored on the display device. The drawn shape then can be broadcasted to the network or sent to a mobile device.
    There will be an additional feature of the product which will monitor the notes, which were taken before, on the application program used in the computer. This application program can be a word document or an image file. Then, the sensed figures that were drawn onto the air will be recognized and by the help of the software program we will write, the desired character will be printed in the word document. If the application program is a paint related program, then the most similar shape will be chosen by the program and then will be printed on the screen.
    Since, JAVA Applet is suitable for both the drawings and strings, all these applications can be put together by developing a single JAVA program. The JAVA code that we will develop will also be installed on the pen so that the processor inside the pen will type and draw the desired shape or text on the display panel.

    Robot is a system with a mechanical body, using computer as its brain. Integrating the sensors and actuators built into the mechanical body, the motions are realised with the computer software to execute the desired task. Robots are more flexible in terms of ability to perform new tasks or to carry out complex sequence of motion than other categories of automated manufacturing equipment. Today there is lot of interest in this field and a separate branch of technology 'robotics' has emerged. It is concerned with all problems of robot design, development and applications. The technology to substitute or subsidise the manned activities in space is called space robotics. Various applications of space robots are the inspection of a defective satellite, its repair, or the construction of a space station and supply goods to this station and its retrieval etc. With the over lap of knowledge of kinematics, dynamics and control and progress in fundamental technologies it is about to become possible to design and develop the advanced robotics systems. And this will throw open the doors to explore and experience the universe and bring countless changes for the better in the ways we live.
    Areas Of Application
    The space robot applications can be classified into the following four categories
    1 In-orbit positioning and assembly: For deployment of satellite and for assembly of modules to satellite/space station.
    2 Operation: For conducting experiments in space lab.
    3 Maintenance: For removal and replacement of faulty modules/packages.
    4 Resupply: For supply of equipment, materials for experimentation in space lab and for the resupply of fuel.

    The following examples give specific applications under the above categories
    Scientific experimentation:

    " Metallurgical experiments which may be hazardous.
    " Astronomical observations.
    " Biological experiments.

    Assist crew in space station assembly

    Gene prediction typically refers to the area of computational that is concerned with algorithmically identifying biology genomic DNA, that are stretches of sequence, usually biologically functional. This especially includes protein-genes, but may also include other functional coding RNA genes and regulatory regions. Gene elements such as finding is

    one of the first and most important steps in understanding the genome of a species once it has been sequenced.

    WiDEN enhanced specialized mobile radio (or ESMR) wireless telephony protocol of Motorola employs this software upgrade developed by the company. In a WiDEN or Wideband Integrated Dispatch Enhanced Network by applying a bandwidth of 100 kbit/s the subscriber can communicate over four 25 kHz channels. The iM240 PCMCIA card that can transmit the data at a speed of 60 kbit/s was the first WiDEN-compatible device to be released by Motorola. Unveiled in mid-summer 2005, the first WiDEN-compatible telephones, the motorola i850 and the i760 used the software upgrade of i850/i760 which puts them in the WIDEN network. The Motorola i870 c, released on 31 October 2005, made possible the commercial launch of WiDEN. Today this new technology is widely used in Nextel s National Network.

    Update: Since the Sprint Nextel merger the company determined that because Sprint s CDMA network was already 3G and going to EVDO (broadband speeds) and then EVDO Rev A (T-1 speeds) it would be redundant to keep upgrading the IDEN data network.

    The history of semiconductor devices starts in 1930’s when Lienfed and Heil first proposed the mosfet. However it took 30 years before this idea was applied to functioning devices to be used in practical applications, and up to the late 1980 this trend took a turn when MOS technology caught up and there was a cross over between bipolar and MOS share.CMOS was finding more wide spread use due to its low power dissipation, high packing density and simple design, such that by 1990 CMOS covered more than 90% of total MOS scale.

    In 1983 bipolar compatible process based on CMOS technology was developed and BiCMOS technology with both the MOS and bipolar device fabricated on the same chip was developed and studied. The objective of the BiCMOS is to combine bipolar and CMOS so as to exploit the advantages of both at the circuit and system levels. Since 1985, the state-of-the-art bipolar CMOS structures have been converging. Today BiCMOS has become one of the dominant technologies used for high speed, low power and highly functional VLSI circuits especially when the BiCMOS process has been enhanced and integrated in to the CMOS process without any additional steps. Because the process step required for both CMOS and bipolar are similar, these steps cane be shared for both of them

    Lyndsay Williams of Microsoft Research s Cambridge UK lab is the inventor of the Smartquill,a pen that can remember the words that it is used to write, and then transform them into computer text . The idea that it would be neat to put all of a handheld-PDA type computer in a pen, came to the inventor in her sleep . “It’s the pen for the new millennium,” she says. Encouraged by Nigel Ballard, a leading consultant to the mobile computer industry, Williams took her prototype to the British Telecommunications Research Lab, where she was promptly hired and given money and institutional support for her project. The prototype, called SmartQuil, has been developed by world-leading research laboratories run by BT (formerly British Telecom) at Martlesham, eastern England. It is claimed to be the biggest revolution in handwriting since the invention of the pen.

    The sleek and stylish prototype pen is different from other electronic pens on the market today in that users don t have to write on a special pad in order to record what they write. User could use any surface for writing such as paper, tablet, screen or even air. The SmartQuill isn t all space-age, though -- it contains an ink cartridge so that users can see what they write down on paper. SmartQuill contains sensors that record movement by using the earth s gravity system, irrespective of the platform used. The pen records the information inserted by the user. Your words of wisdom can also be uploaded to your PC through the “digital inkwell”, while the files that you might want to view on the pen are downloaded to SmartQuill as well.

    It is an interesting idea, and it even comes with one attribute that makes entire history of pens pale by comparison—if someone else picks your SmartQuill and tries to write with it- it won’t. Because user can train the pen to recognize a particular handwriting. Hence SmartQuill recognizes only the owner’s handwriting. SmartQuill is a computer housed within a pen which allows you to do what a normal personal organizer does .It’s really mobile because of it’s smaller size and one handed use. People could use the pen in the office to replace a keyboard, but the main attraction will be for users who usually take notes by hand on the road and type them up when returning to the office. SmartQuill will let them skip the step of typing up their notes.

    This project of a multihearted CPU or the super computer on a chip, which has opened a new dimension in the era of devices, is a combined undertaking by the corporates giants like the Sony, Thosiba and the IBM (STI). This innovative technology will find its applications in Playstation 3 video game console of Sony, in replacing the existing processors, in the broadband network technology, in boosting the performance of the existing electronic devices. As per the details available this, single chip can perform I trillion floating point operations per second, 1 TFLOP, which is several hundred times faster than a high-end personal computer.

    Give more room space for additional hardware resources to perform parallel computations rather than allowing the single threaded performance is the core concept of this project. This means, only minimum resources are allocated to perform the single threaded operations compared to performing more parallelizable multimedia-type computations like the multiple DSP-like processing elements.

    A Surface-conduction Electron-emitter Display (SED) is a flat panel display technology that uses surface conduction electron emitters for every individual display pixel. The surface conduction electron emitter emits electrons, that excite a phosphor coating on the display panel which is similar to the basic concept found in traditional cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions. This means that SEDs can combine the slim form factor of LCDs with the high contrast ratios and can also refresh rates making the picture quality of CRTs better .The researches so far claim that the SED consumes less power than the LCD displays. The surface conduction electron emitter apparatus consists of a thin slit, across which electrons tunnel when excited by moderate voltages (tens of volts).

    When the electrons cross electric poles across the thin slit, some are scattered at the receiving pole and are accelerated towards the display surface by a large voltage gradient (tens of kV) between the display panel and the surface conduction electron emitter apparatus. The SED display offer brightness, color performance and viewing angles on par with CRTs. However, they do not require a deflection system for the electron beam. Engineers as a result can create a display that is just a few inches thick which is still light enough for wall-hanging designs. The manufacturer can enlarge the panel merely by increasing the number of electron emitters relative to the necessary number of pixels. Since 1987, SED technology has been developing. Canon and Toshiba are the two major companies working on SEDs.

Unlike a Transil it acts as a crowbar device, switching on when the voltage on it exceeds its breakover voltage.A Trisil is bipolar, behaving the same way in both directions. It is principally a voltage-controlled triac without gate. In 1982, the only manufacturer was Thomson SA. This type of crowbar protector is widely used for protecting telecom equipment from lightning induced transients and induced currents from power lines. Other manufacturers of this type of device include Bourns and Littelfuse. Rather than using the natural breakdown voltage of the device, an extra region is fabricated within the device to form a zener diode. This allows a much tighter control of the breakdown voltage. It is also possible to make gated versions of this type of protector. In this case, the gate is connected to the telecom circuit power supply (via a diode or transistor) so that the device will crowbar if the transient exceeds the power supply voltage. The main advantage of this configuration is that the protection voltage tracks the power supply, so eliminating the problem of selecting a particular breakdown voltage for the protection circuit.[/FONT]
