ZTE Open C And Open II Firefox Smartphones Arrive At MWC 2014

Chinese telecommunication equipment maker ZTE Corp. introduced two new smartphones OPEN C and OPEN II in ongoing MWC 2014. Both of these phones run on the new Firefox OS. ZTE had launched the OPEN series smartphone last year in MWC 2013 by introducing their first Firefox phone ZTE OPEN. Earlier, Mozilla announced that they will bring new phones to market that are priced at about 25$. Moving on to the new debutants of the ZTE’s OPEN family, ZTE OPEN C has highest configuration among Firefox phones which includes a 4.0” WVGA (800*480) display, a dual-core 1.2GHz MSM8210 Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor paired with 512 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a 3 MP camera. Unfortunately, there is no secondary camera for video calling and it runs latest version of Firefox OS i.e. Firefox 1.3. Under connectivity options, the phone supports 3G networks, WiFi b/g/n dual band, Bluetooth and micro USB. A 1400mAh battery is packed inside this phone. OPEN C will be initially launched with Telefonica in Venezuela and Uruguay in second quarter of 2014.

Next one on the radar today is ZTE OPEN II, which packs 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 256 MB of RAM and 2 GB ROM This phone gives same connectivity services and Firefox OS version as that of OPEN C. OPEN II has a 3.5” HVGA (480*320) display and this phone is powered by a 1150mAH battery.

ZTE will release a Firefox smartphone having 4.5" display in 2015 and has plans to ship more than one million of its smartphones this year. No Firefox smartphone is released in India till date. How would you like to buy one? Reply in comments.
