The souvenir was released be shipping minister G.K.Vasan who said “Public-Private-Partnership is the way forward to complete the projects. Private entrepreneurs should come forward to accelerate, plan and execute infrastructural projects on time.”

The first day saw some presentations on the non-technical front.

DAY 2 (24.1.11)

The day 2 saw the inauguration of the technical sessions by Dr. Ramakrishnan who is the director, Intl Infrastructure consultants (p) ltd. He was with L&T before he joined this firm he was the chief engineer for various projects like Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Chennai, hospital in white field, Jam Nagar Reliance Factory, etc.

Speaking on the occasion he said technical and productivity improvement is needed the most in the construction field. Good form-work, steel construction and of all this the construction methodology needs most attention. The current problems are less availability of man power and the old techniques. The conversion of the waste materials into man-made usable materials is one aspect of the improvement. Without improvisation in civil engineering there is no progress. We have examples of the past before us which we have to use and expand.
