He was also one of the first inventors to make use of mass production techniques with his inventions, allowing him to create on a larger scale. Although he was a great inventor..

Ratan tata the best a engineer can be as changing the face of the nation at one time through innovation of successful affordable cheapest car for indians and also providing help to country's defence engineering needs like trucks in difficult times like floods, war etc. Not only this starting country's first iodised cheap salt for the fellow indians and in the process even losing profits for the sake of the motherland and ultimately making country proud on engineers.

Well 21st Century surely begins from Jan 1st 2001 and the only person that comes to my mind is one and only "The Real World Iron Man-Elon Musk".He is seriously the most influential person i have ever head of because:
1.)This person is a true engineer and always believes in innovation rather than trying to stay afloat like other entrepreneurs.
2.)He is so humble that he named his company as "Tesla Motors" to honor
"nicolas tesla",a serbian inventor who has credit of inventing induction motor which

“Wear your failure as a badge of honour” – Sundar Pichai
An engineering genius known for his innovative ideas, Sundar Pichai (
Pichai Sundararajan) ,the CEO of Google Inc. is best known as the mastermind behind the launch of the Chrome browser in 2008. I admire Mr. Pichai as the most influential engineer of today’s generation because he convinced his seniors at Google to launch the browser which in time became the most popular browser on the internet and also led to the launch of the Chrome operating system. The Chrome also paved the way for a series of other important products like Chrome OS, Chromebooks , and Chromecast. Moreover, he has insane numerical recall, is soft-spoken, humble and diplomatic in nature. In his home country, Mr.Pichai is seen as something of a hero. Now every Android comes with Chrome because of him. One of the major efforts he spearheaded was Android One, Google's push to make low-cost smartphones for "the next 5 billion" people coming online.

He belongs to a lower middle-class family and had never experienced the luxury of watching television or travelling by car in his childhood. He has contributed a lot to google in this time span. It was during his graduation at IIT Kharagpur where he met his future wife Anjali with whom he has 2 kids now.
Now he is worth an estimated $150 million and arguably one of the most influential men in the world. His sheer brilliance and perseverance has made him an incredible success story he is today.
Lastly I want to say, what one could do is keep oneself primed and hope to grab the opportunities at the right time and place. That way even if you don't end up as a CEO, you will reach a pretty awesome place.

Talking about the most influential engineer of 21st century the only one word which come in any engineers mind is entrepreneurship and which highlights the name of 'TVF Pitchers'. This web series have changed lives of many engineers, inspiring them to do what they like and what they are good at. The founder and incumbent CEO (Chief Experiment Officer) of The Viral Fever Media Labs, Arunabh Kumar (also known by YOGI of TVF and theqtiyapaguy) who according to me is the most inspiring engineer of 21st century. A man who was born in Muzaffarpur in Bihar, completing his masters in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharangpur, then an assistant director of the Indian movie Om Shanti Om (a Red Chilli Production) and then the founder of the entertainment revolution TVF, The Viral Fever.
"Rejection doesn't mean you aren't good enough; it means the other person failed to notice what you HAVE TO OFFER."
Rejection from MTV for Arunabh Kumar's Engineer's Diary lead to the launch of The Viral Fever. The story of a normal man change to a success story after the launch of TVF Pitchers. It drastically changed his life. TVF Pitchers was rated 9.6/10 by IMDb. He was awarded with

    1. The Economic Times 40 under Forty list for 2016.
    2. Fortune Top 40 under 40 list for 2015 & 2016.
    3. GQ's List of Most Influential Young Indians for 2015 and 2016

    5. AFAQs - 'Newsmaker of the Year' in 2014.
    6. Man's World - Men of the Year, 2014.
Such a story with many ups and downs, of rejection to success, of a nerd to a successful entrepreneur, will not only inspire me but will also inspire a millions of engineers. Arunabh Kumar was recently called to an international conference for representing 'New Age Storytellers' of the World at mipcom2016.

Aaron Swartz. Not because he is my favorite, because of his name, arguments, life and dedication towards his dream - an “open” online environment generates a million clicks every day. He had an inborn talent to master things quickly, but his rebel soul, the friend next door attitude has opened eyes of the developers, entrepreneurs, and world-wide activists. While many of us still secure our future first, this man had gone out of his ways to challenge the education system.

While many of us know about MIT’s open source initiative MIT license, we can’t forget the brutal treatment Aaron received for using MIT’s data network for downloading academic journal paper from JSTOR. This act although ended up taking Aaron’s life indirectly, it powered his peers, colleagues, juniors, developers and our hearts to foster the growth of internet activism.

Why do we live? To serve humanity, can we be that selfless? He was an engineer, a true spirit to go beyond the laws. His unmatchable contribution in the web feed RSS, Markdown language, W3C and creative common license have revitalized the internet and usage. His entrepreneurship bloomed with infogami, a content management system which was later merged with Reddit, making him the co-founder. While he was a true genius in academia, he never stopped questioning the policies and federal laws. Although his death was not anticipated, the motivation grew like a hurricane and influenced others to develop places like #-Link-Snipped-#, a repo of all research papers without a payment barrier.

Just after his death, the Anonymous group hacked two MIT sites, paying tribute to Aaron’s life. Further, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act had to go through revisions plus, they had to develop Fair Access to Science and Technology Research Act to allow the tax-payer funded research for greater growth and innovation. The mighty soul later got featured in many of the online articles, printed magazines and mural paintings for being the legendary “Internet’s Own Boy”.

Coincidentally this is Aaron’s Swartz birth week and this is the guy, who even after his death is still changing people, and the world.

Anirudh Sharma : Shoes For Visually Impaired People

Anirudh Sharma, a Research Assistant at MIT Media Lab, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has designed a shoe that can assist the blind people in easy mobility.

Anirudh has accomplished this project along with his friend Krispian Lawrence & named it :"Le Chal"

Functionality : The shoes contain an electronic module which includes a chip & vibrating unit, a removable and rechargeable battery. The shoe can be paired to the user’s smartphone via Bluetooth and the haptic sensors through the electronic module vibrates according to the directions to the destination.

The shoes will lead the user to the desired destination by haptic vibration alerts. User would be alerted about left or right turn by a vibration on that particular side of the shoe. The current design of the shoes limits it to be used alongside a cane for now as the electronic module does not notify about every obstacle, keeping in mind about the current road conditions in india, where most of the roads tend to have mmany obstacles on the way. The vibration would only guide on the turns andthe route to the destination.

STEVE JOBS -----No doubt at all for me .He is and will remain always as a succesful engineer ,motivator, serves as a wisdom seeker and all the above a person with real life experiences bitter ones being more from which he is born and brought up.
He becomes the first priority for me because he is influential by his hard work ,dedication and all the more taught every budding engineers to have a powerful passion and grab it ,love it,and thus enjoy the work you are engaged in. Infact that's the most important fact of all times which we neglect to carry throughout our life. His life was not as normal as expected ,many hard times to be faced and there is the nobleness in his life lies because the engineers or any people of different job sector are in search for an uplifting and buoyant force , to leave aside the huge matters that doesn't matters much really and to find their fortune ,go knock it and make magical excellence in it.As it is said that every individual born in this world are lucky because they are ordained with a unique duty to be accomplished and are gifted with best of all abilities that worth much more than any possessions and truth is that the most risky and complicated tasks we die on are finding our talent, passion or the area we can find ourselves as an expert. And here is where the real hero steps in to motivate or help accomplish find their potential......Words are insufficient to write his greatness as he is one of very few of the people who has inspired me by his thoughtful quotes...
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”upload_2016-11-6_19-34-22

"I Failed in Some Subjects in Exam , But my friend passed in all , Now he is a Engineer in Microsoft and I am the Owner of Microsoft . "
    - Bill Gates ( Founder - Microsoft )
I Would Start from this Quote by a Extremely Talented and Innovator "Bill Gates" . The Words are small enough to describe him . Bill Gates is a Founder of Microsoft - The World's Largest PC Software Company .

An Engineer is not judged by it's Academics or Scoring Top Grades in All Subjects . This Point is not Valid for those Who are God Gifted or earlier decided their destiny . Some Great do that also . But those Who emerges as a great leader or a great engineer , are the real-heroes of their own life . They are the Ones , Who makes the People's Life Comfortable and easier .

Bill Gates sets a benchmark , that a failure can land to a Successful Innovators , Who had a great impact on the Whole World . Also , They are the Ones that truly change the meaning of the way you look the world . They are not made but they are born to be the actual change agents , who would bring change in people's lives .

Behind a Great Engineer/Great Entrepreneur , One thing is common , they live by their passion at what they do . They Love that they would do . They Love their Work . They are good at that Only .

I Think that 'The Most Influential Engineer of 21st Century' is gonna be Who Can Change the whole World . Bill Gates inspired a generation of generations that a failure can do anything in the world . Bill Gates had left a big spot in the Software Industry .

I am very surprised nobody mentioned the great Linus Torvalds - creator of Linux! May be it is just me, but to gift the world with an open-source OS as great as Linux qualifies as the greatest gift of the 21st century, where literally every engineer is totally dependent on a computer. He was criticized for using proprietary version control software for maintaining Linux code (since he claims to be a proponent of open-source tools), so he went ahead and created GIT Git Imagine the awesomeness and confidence of this guy!
