WebOS Powered LG TVs To Arrive In 2014, Debut At CES In Las Vegas

News has it that the webOS is coming on LG television. Developed by Palm - the Linux operating system called the WebOS was earlier only intended to arrive for the mobile devices. Palm got acquired by HP and the OS was later bought by LG Electronics. The last time we saw it appear was in the HP's First WebOS Tablet - The TouchPad that released in 2011. And now it has re-surfaced. The folks over at #-Link-Snipped-# have shared that LG Electronics will be showcasing the first WebOS powered LG television at the CES 2014 show in Las Vegas next month. Following Samsung, who will be seen unveiling the Tizen powered televisions by 2015, LG Electronics seems to have geared up something really new.

So, this WebOS powered television model will be connected to the Internet and will feature what they call the 'cards' system. The cards system is nothing but collection of pop-ups that allows users to navigate multiple applications, originally used in the webOS mobile devices launched by HP. For those who still remember or own the Palm Pre smartphone, will remember what that looks like. As far as the features are concerned, the LG WebOS smartphone will be powered by a 2.2GHz dual-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM. The apps that will run on this television will be based on the webOS Enyo framework and as mentioned earlier they will come with the multitasking support using the Cards interface.

Glad you keep us updated about various tech news. you writing is crisp and clear 😀

It is inexplicable (the word you wanted) if you’ve never used WebOS. There are things that it did that have yet to be improved upon. Namely:

    • Notifications – WebOS had non-intrusive notifications that were actionable.
    • Multi-Tasking – No mobile OS has improved upon WebOS Cards
    • Unified Inbox – Every email was sorted naturally, in an easy to manage order.
    • List design language – Only now, apps like Evomail are catching up to WebOS, with the ability to quickly swipe items away.
    • JustType – You could just start typing, and then decide, is this a message, a call, a note? Options were given, making tasks quick and intuitive.
    • Gestures – That Android browser still doesn’t have an easy way to go ‘forward’ is a travesty. In WebOS, all these gestures were built-in and easy to use. Forward, back, copy, paste. Simple.
So yes, there are people that have an irrational for loving WebOS. They are not, however, without their reasons.
