Variable Flow Hydro-Power Turbine System

The VFH has the ability to allow hydroelectric power generation at any location where there is a minimal flow, about 1.55 cubic foot per second (cfs) or 1 mgd, of water (at a minimum of 8 feet of fall) with a maximum head of 50 feet using 20 cfs producing 150 kW. The standard unit requires an 8", 10", or 12" propeller turbine operating between 8 to 20 feet of head with flows varying from 1.5 cfs up to 16 cfs producing ½ to 20 kW. The only requirement is the source must be generally clear of debris, which could jam the turbine or clog the intake, resulting in the loss of hydropower production.
