Twitter Shall Roll Out Exceptions To Its 140 Character Limit Soon

Last week we informed you that there were unconfirmed reports that Twitter will Twitter Shall Stop Counting Links & Pictures In Tweets: Report in tweets. Twitter has done better and is planning to make these changes as well as others to its 140 character limit. It has informed in a #-Link-Snipped-# on its website that it has taken into consideration how users use Twitter and will be rolling out the following changes on Twitter in the coming months. The first change that will be rolling out soon is that when replying to a Tweet @names will no longer count to the 140-character limit. This means you can reply to someone using all the 140 characters. This comes as a respite for people who want to reply to someone with a long username. The long username won’t consume characters from their Tweet anymore.

The second change is that when you add attachments to your Tweets such as photos, GIFs, videos or polls or even when you quote someone else’s Tweet they won’t be counted in the Tweet limit. This is probably not a good idea as now Twitter wars will get longer to read. The third change that Twitter is mulling is that that the Retweet button has been enabled on your own Tweets. This might sound a little weird but Twitter thinks that this will make sure that a good tweet does not go unnoticed from your followers.

Twitter Changes 2

If you have been using Twitter to reply someone you might have once or twice used @ which is preceded by full stop symbol so that the Tweets that start with username are reflected to all your followers. This is about to change as now you will have the ability to hit Retweet on that Tweet (which begins with username) and it gets broadcasted to all your followers on Twitter.

You might now be wondering why these changes are not immediately rolling out at once to all users? The reason is that there are a ton of third party apps for Twitter and before rolling out any new drastic changes Twitter wants to inform these developers so that they are ready with these changes.
