Toyota Corolla Altis 2014 Launch In India Slated For May; Key Features At Glance

After a glimpse at the Auto Expo 2014 in India this year, news about Toyota Corolla Altis 2014 was eagerly awaited by consumers. And just in time, the Japanese automobile giant has made the release official with launch planned on 27th May 2014. Running on an 1.8 liter petrol engine, the new Toyota Corolla Altis promises a power of 140 PS at 6400 rpm and torque at 190 Nm at 4000 rpm. On the specs chart, the 2014 Altis states manual transmission, 7- speed CVT automatic with pedal shifters and a 1.4 litre diesel engine.

Among the features that will stand out once the car hits the roads in India, some are - push button start, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, LED Daytime running lights, Rear view camera, 7 inch touch screen infotainment system and 8 way adjustable seat for driver. Along with these, the wheelbase of 2700 mm on this sedan makes the cabin space and legroom more comfortable than the older model.

In India, the all-new sedan shall face competition from the likes of Skoda Octavia, Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta. The details about the pricing and availability will follow in the coming months. We will keep you updated once they are out. For now, early birds can book the car from Toyota dealerships at a price of Rs. 50,000.     Off topic: Corolla is all good; all I need is a Fortuner upgrade. I guess Toyota has proposed it for 2014 but it may take 2015 for it to finally make to the roads.
