I believe this is the question -

Screen Shot 2013-11-21 at 1.11.19 PM

    Step 1:
    2 + 3 = 5
    5 in Box 11

    Step 2:
    8 in Box 10

    Step 3:
Yes. The Box number is 1, which is an odd number.

    Step 4:
    Number in Box 6 = 2
    Number in Box 2 = 6
    Therefore going to instruction 6

    Step 6:
    4 + 5 = 9
    9 in Box 11.

    Step 7:
    Box 2 and Box 9

    Step 8:
    8 !< 9
    Therefore, NO.

    Step 9:
    8 in Box 10.

    Answer is

    Box 8 has 11
    Box 11 has 9

Solved it in a jiffy. Please correct if I am wrong.

Emm, there has to be a correct solution. Not putting in the step by step process primarily because, if it is not the right one, I don't want others to get confused. Sure I can put it up if I know that the answer is right.

Anyone up for solving this problem?

    READ THESE DIRECTIONS:

In the following problem you are told something about the result, and you must determine what the content of the boxes must have been, in order to obtain the result.
In these problems, the expressions (number in box x) is abbreviated as (x)
In each of the following problem no two boxes contain the same number.

The object of the following flow-chart is to rearrange the numbers in boxes 3, 4 and 5in such a fashion that, at the end:

Box 3 will always contain the smallest number,
Box 5 will always contain the largest number,

However, this flow-chart is INCORRECT. As it stands, it will not accomplish the desired purpose. Which one instruction must be changed to correct the flow-chart?

    8_1

In order to correct this flow-chart, we must change Instruction No. ______
So that the first box-number mentioned in it is box-number ______
And the second box-number mentioned in it is box-number ______

    Step 1:

    5 in Box 11

    Step 2:
    8 in Box 10

    Step 3:
Yes. The Box number is 1, which is an odd number.

    Step 4:
    Number in Box 6 = 2
    Number in Box 2 = 6
    Therefore going to instruction 6

    Step 6:
    4 + 5 = 9
    9 in Box 11.

    Step 7:
    Box 2 and Box 9

    Step 8:
    8 !< 9
    Therefore, NO.

    Step 9:
8 in Box 10.(I think, here we have done a little mistake, we need to put value of Box2 in Box9, i.e. 6 in Box 9)

    Answer is

    Box 8 has 11
    Box 11 has 9

Solved it in a jiffy. Please correct if I am wrong.

    So again,

    Step 3
No, Box number is even # => Move to step 6

    Step 6
    9 + 4(box5) = 13

    step 7
    Box 3 and Box 8

    step 8
    8 < 8 ? No, go to step 2

    step 2
    Put "5"(box 3) in Box 8.

    step 3
Yes, Box number 3 is odd.
    Number in Box 6 = 2
    Number in Box 2 = 6
    Therefore going to instruction 6

    step 6
    put 13(box 11) + 4(box 5) in box 11

    step 7
    Box 4 and Box 7

    step 8
    7 < 8 ? Yes, => END

    value in Box 8: 5
    value in Box 11: 17

p.s.: Please correct me if I took any wrong step or misunderstood the question.

is the answer for problem 4 .............6
    I got 14.

    Step 1
    put 9(box 12) - 0(box 12) in box 2

    step 2
    Box 12 and Box 14

    step 3
We can't let the condition be false as there is no Box 14, so we have to put "14" in box 3 to make the condition 14 == value in Box 3 be true.

so the answer might be 14.

    Step 1:
    2 + 3 = 5
    5 in Box 11

    Step 2:
    8 in Box 10

    Step 3:
Yes. The Box number is 1, which is an odd number.

    Step 4:
    Number in Box 6 = 2
    Number in Box 2 = 6
    Therefore going to instruction 6

    Step 6:
    4 + 5 = 9
    9 in Box 11.

    Step 7:
    Box 2 and Box 9

    Step 8:

    Therefore, NO.

    Step 9:
