NASA's aim is to cut down costs of carting nutrition and disposing waste. While feasible for a Mars trip, torpor is unlikely to be useful for any interstellar work.

MTR in Bangalore may be willing to send a space restautant going behind the NASA spaceship supplying hot South Indian food at a nominal (astronomic) price.

    saar!!!!
filter coffee price in airport reaches astronomical prices ๐Ÿ˜›, I would not dare to think to sip filter coffee in spaceship ๐Ÿ˜›

I would be inclined to say this is suspended animation and not as much teleportation. Although the humans involved would not realize the difference ๐Ÿ˜€ But yeah, we are taking strides towards space travel! Exciting times to be alive, as they say!

#-Link-Snipped-#, ofcourse this ain't teleportation , but going into hibernation itself is a big deal.
#-Link-Snipped-# sir, why do you think torpor would be unsuitable for interstellar travel?

Because proxima Centauri, the star nearest to us is three and a half light years away. At the current level of technology it will take a few generations to undertake such travel.

We might not undertake the first space travel program to Proxima Centauri though, may be Mars or beyond in our solar system? Mars doesn't command torpor for the travelers, but may be if we plan to someday land on Europa or some place else, it might prove beneficial.

Sure. For travel within the solar system torpor may be useful. All that is being done is to slow the metabolic rate far below normal. What effects it will have on physiology is yet to be seen.

Sir, long distance issues could be addressed differently if I am not wrong. Torpors could be used irrespective of the distance I think.

Not if the distances are of the order of light years. The time involved is too long.
