Swatch Wants You To Wear 'Touch Zero One' Smartwatch While Playing Beach Volleyball

The popular maker of Swiss wristwatches Swatch has entered the smartwatch segment with its smartwatch called 'Swatch Touch Zero One'. When it comes to smartwatches, the names that quickly come to our mind are Moto 360, Samsung Gear, LG Watch and the recently launched Huawei Android Wear. If you were thinking that the next in line was Apple Watch (news about which will probably make rounds after Apple's March 9 event), you are about to be surprised with what the Swiss watchmaker Swatch has to offer. The Swatch Touch Zero One wearable gadget is being promoted as the fun watch that can be worn while playing a Beach Volleyball game so as to track the player's actions. We believe this feature comes from the fact that Swatch is a sponsor to FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

Swatch Touch Zero One takes the already popular Swatch Touch one step further, adding new functions. The existing features such as a curved touchscreen, side swipe access and built-in backlight to finger-tap as well as six timing functions have not been altered in the Touch Zero One. The interesting new additions are the battery life (which the company claims would last for months together) and fingerfun access to multiple Beach Volley functions right on the Swatch. Let's take a closer look.

The Swatch Touch Zero One features fitness tracking, so it can counting steps and calculate the number of Power Hits (to measure the strength of the hit and rate the player on a scale from 0 to 100) and Power Claps. There's a provision of using a virtual coach that communicates with the smartphone you've paired with the Touch Zero One app (Android and iOS). While playing volleyball, the smart watch will be able to record four different types of hits such as attack hits, low hits, high hits and high fives. By analysing the various data it acquires from various sensors, the Swatch Touch Zero One watch will be able to determine and display the number of calories burnt by the wearer. This data can be viewed in the form of graphs over the course of the day and even months.

Though we don't have the official technical specifications list as of now for the smartwatch, some sources report that it should be out soon. The Swatch Touch Zero One is expected to be priced at $159 (approximately Rs. 9,800). There's no word yet about the smartwatch's availability worldwide or launch in India.
