Sony PS4 Experience Now "For Your Eyes Only" With A New Virtual Reality Headset

As the battle of the gaming consoles rages on, Sony has decided to enhance its battle plans with a new virtual reality headset planned to be unveiled at the PlayStation 4 conference at the Tokyo Game Show this September. According to #-Link-Snipped-#, Sony had previously planned to reveal this product at Gamescom but it did not go through with it at the last moment. The reason for the postponing of the launch as been attributed to the fact that Sony remains indecisive on whether it will sell the VR headset as a compulsory accessory like Kinect for Xbox One or make it an optional add-on like its PS4 Eye. An anonymous tipper has also informed the source that the virtual reality headset will be used to simulate cockpit view on Drive Club, a PS4 title developed by Evolution Studios.

Report: Sony to debut virtual reality headset at TGS, currently works with DriveClub - Polygon reports that Sony will be showcasing over 50 titles across its PlayStation range at the Tokyo Game Show. While Sony already has some experience in this sector with its 3D HMZ range of virtual headsets, it has not been able to achieve much success due to its high prices and uncomfortable design. Sony has made some improvements with the HMZ-T3W/HMZ-T3 | ヘッドマウントディスプレイ “Personal 3D Viewer” | ソニー but it will face some tough competition from #-Link-Snipped-# which promises more immersive gaming experiences.

While Microsoft thinks “#-Link-Snipped-#”, Sony’s decision of a personalised and a more immersive gaming experience coupled with its association Indie developers would prove to be a game changer. So what do you think? Let us know in the comment section below.

Sony has not issued any tech specs till now so it would be difficult to speculate. According to the leak, the headset is being tested Drive Club, a PS4 title. Sony has already produced 3D headsets like the HMZ-T3W/HMZ-T3 | ヘッドマウントディスプレイ “Personal 3D Viewer” | ソニー, which costs around 70000 INR, so this one has a good chance to be a 3D enabled set, but if Sony wants to keep the prices low like it has done in the past they might not give it 3D.
