Sony Bravia X90C Is Officially The World’s Slimmest TV - Unveiled At CES 2015

It is hard to deny that when it comes to television, Sony is the brand that people trust the most and expect much from. Sony too apparently is aware of this fact and they constantly try to keep reinventing themselves. This time at CES 2015, Sony has introduced a 4K Ultra-HD (UHD) television, the speciality of which is that at the thickness of only 4.9 mm (0.2 inch), it is the world’s thinnest television. It is so slim that it is slender than Sony’s own Xperia series smartphones.

The LED TV named Bravia X90C was announced on Sunday in a news conference at CES in Las Vegas. Since then, with the reputation of being thinner than even an iPhone, X90C has attracted a lot of eyeballs and has got what Sony’s primary purpose of unveiling was: publicity. Predictably, the test footage shown by Sony provided extreme clarity and stunningly crisp colours. The TV’s design is very attractive. It has got a small black frame and is definitely as slim as Sony boasts it to be. However, it will be incorrect to say that the TV is completely flat as there is a module behind the TV at the bottom which protrudes out quite considerably.

The following are the few specs of the TV that Sony revealed. The TV will contain the new X1 processor which means that it will have an extraordinary colour accuracy and contrast and of course there will be the clarity of 4K videos as expected. The most interesting news is that the TV will run on Google’s Android TV operating system. Sony said that they chose Android because it is the most popular OS throughout the world and inarguably having Android OS will definitely have its perks. The primary benefit, of course would be that the TV will be compatible with all Android devices. Because of it, the user will be able to stream video on the TV as well as use the TV as the as a gaming device. The user will be able to change the channels even using Android Wear watches like the latest Sony Smartwatch 3 Specs Reveal That Its Got More Brains Than Beauty. Another exciting feature that the TV would support is voice search in over 42 languages which will be done through a remote that would be equipped with a microphone.

The fact that Sony has been able to wrap all the electronics in only 4.9 mm is noteworthy. There has been no confirmation from Sony that when exactly the product will go for sale. The official Sony blog mentions that the device will be available in spring 2015 but the exact date has not yet been announced. Further, the pricing details of the TV have also not been revealed yet but it is fair to assume that such a device will be pretty expensive.
