Shopping From Virtual Shelves Brought To You By Tesco

Tesco has started a trial run of a new innovation that could revolutionize grocery shopping. Virtual grocery stores have been installed at the departure terminal of Gatwik Airport, UK to help the customer to buy groceries. The working of this device is simple. A display contains four interactive screens that can be browsed through by touch. Each of the four screens contains images of shelves that have a total of 80 products displayed on them. When customers decide to buy a product, all they have to do is use their smart phones to scan the bar-code of the product by using the Tesco app. Then the users can fix the date of delivery to make sure that the products arrive on their door step when they return from their journey. Ten such devices have been installed for a two week test run at the airport.

This feature has already been tested by the company in South Korea. In this case they utilized billboards to display the barcode and the users could order products by using their smart phones. Would you all like to have such setup in your nearest grocery stores too? Share with us in comments.
