Samsung GALAXY S4 Active Tech Specs Offer Dust & Water Protection Like Xperia Z

Well, Samsung’s GALAXY range has long been at war with Sony’s Xperia range for capturing market share. Samsung’s policy of making cheap droids worked successfully but they also drew a lot of flak for uninspiring design and flimsy outer casing. So seeing how the Xperia has managed to have a niche market for strong rugged devices that can withstand dust and water, the Korean mobile manufacturer has decided now to put GALAXY S4 Active in the competition. The smartphone has been qualified with IP67 (International Protection) against dust and water and it can withstand a dip of up to 30 minutes. This means that you can use your GALAXY S4 Active to capture underwater photos with ease. In order to enhance photography underwater the smartphone comes with a special ‘Aqua Mode’ that enhances both image and sound quality while shooting photos or videos underwater.

Underneath the 5-inch Full HD resolution TFT LCD screen with 443 PPI (pixels per inch) that supports inputs even when you are wearing gloves is a 1.9 GHz Quad Core processor which in association with 2 GB of RAM can easily handle Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). For photography it has a rear 8MP snapper with LED flash and a front 2MP one to handle your video calls. In terms of connectivity the Samsung GALAXY Active has Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, IrDA, NFC, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0. The phone has an internal memory of 16 GB out of which 11.25 GB is user accessible and the external memory can be expanded to up to 64 GB with the help of a microSD cards. The phone works on LTE (Category 3), HSPA+ and GSM networks and it has a 2600 mAh battery. The GALAXY S4 Active will be available in Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare colour variants in the US and Europe this summer and will be rolled out globally later. No information on its price though but we are pretty sure that it would be in the high end range.
