Run PS2 Games On PS4
Sony understands gamers! Sony Entertainment Studios aka SEC has announced that PS4 owners will now be able to run the age old PS2 games. All you need to do is head over to the Playstation Store (Americas and Europe at this time), purchase the game, download it and run. Yeah - the games aren't free and are available for either $14.99 or $9.99. Sony's Shuhei Yoshida made the announcement on official playstation #-Link-Snipped-# about a few hours ago.
Yoshida writes that the company is celebrating 20 years of the Playstation and is looking back at the heritage that helped the company build the Playstation brand. The Playstation 2, which to the date remains the best selling gaming console in the world, holds a special place in the hearts of the gamers.
Back in 2000, The PS2 was a console much advanced for its time. It supported DVDs for games and movies and also packed a powerful processor. What made PS2 popular was the wide range of games such as the Dark Cloud, GTA III, Rogue Galaxy, Mark of Kri, Twisted Metal: Black and War of the Monsters. All of these games are now available on PS4 for purchase and download.
All these PS2 games have been revamped to take advantage of the new PS4 ecosystem with Trophy support. The feedback of the original creators was taken while adding trophy support to keep the spirit and the feeling of the original PS2 game.
Yoshida writes that all the PS2 games will be rendered in Full HD (1080p). He promised that Sony's working on bringing other fan-favorite PS2 games to PS4 in coming days. Do let us know which of your favorite PS2 games should make it to PS4.
