As far as pricing is concerned, it’s near about the same as Toyota's Fortuner, BMW's X1 models and Mitsubishi's Outlander. The sport-utility vehicle segment remained isolated because of the past slowdown in local vehicle sales owing to greater lending rates and fuel prices. Presently, the SUV segment is growing at the rate of 120%.

#-Link-Snipped-#, this is the second model launched by Renault. Koleos will just be assembled in India. In India, Renault will assemble the Koleos from selected kits brought from France and South Korea at a factory close to the port city of Chennai. The plant, which is owned jointly by Renault and its Japanese partner Nissan Motor Co., started in March last year with an initial annual capacity of 2 lakh cars. Nissan develops its Micra small car in Chennai.

Renault is even planning to launch a small car, established on the V-platform on which Micra is developed. The next in line is the Duster SUV, which will be launched next year. The company wishes to localize Koleos’ engine and transmission next year onwards. Some models may even enjoy localization of 60-80%, the Renault India Managing Director Marc Nassif stated.
