Razer Firefly: A $60 Gaming Mouse Pad With Customisable Colour LED Lighting

Razer has finally managed to spruce up the most ordinary PC peripheral of them all, the mouse pad. After putting its Chroma Lighting feature on keyboards and mice, the PC peripheral manufacturer dealing exclusively with gaming accessories has launched the Razer Firefly, a $60 hard (non foldable)mouse pad that can light up in 16.8 million colours. The Razer Firefly has LED lights on its left, right and bottom that can be either programmed by the companion PC application or paired with other Chroma products from Razer. You can program the Razer Firefly to light up in Wave, Reactive, Breathing and Spectrum Cycling patterns and switch to single colour mode as well.

Razer knows that this is essentially a gaming mouse pad and apart from the fancy lights it has included additional features that make life of PC gamers a little less arduous. On the Razer Firefly we find a hard, micro-textured finish that makes sure every little mouse movement is accurately translated into cursor movement so that you do not get frustrated with your aim on first person shooters. The surface of the Razer Firefly is coated with an enhanced reflective material that gives you unparalleled responsive tracking.

The Razer Firefly is perhaps the first mouse pad to have a USB connector that is required to power the Chroma customisable lighting. You can of course free up a USB port on your PC by not plugging in the Razer Firefly’s gold plated USB connector but then the whole thing becomes pointless. We have to point here that you need a PC or a Mac to run the companion software. Coming to the specifics, well at 380 grams it’s certainly the heaviest mouse pad in the world and it measures 13.98 inches in length and 10.04 in width and sits 0.16 inches above the table. The Razer Firefly is available for pre-order in the US for $59.99 and will be available globally next month. So when you are done assembling your next dream gaming rig, remember to ask the retailer for the 3800 rupees mouse pad and he/she will probably laugh his/her head off.
