Various engineering companies have associated themselves with this, thus developing capital for this prize. Lord Browne, president of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a former chief executive of BP, will be supervising these funds. The organizers have refused to comment on the amount raised by them, and only said that they have found long-term commitments. Prime Minister, David Cameron was delighted that The Queen put her name for this prize, and felt that this prize will hold the same respect as the Nobel Prizes.

As reported by Engineering UK, there are more than 550,000 engineering companies in the country, but they are confronting a huge workforce shortage. By 2017, this shortage would've gone up to 600,000. The organizers maintained that this prize will only go to the engineers who contributed towards a innovative advance in engineering thus making substantial benefit to humanity, and in a way raising the profile of 'crazy' engineering.
