Microsoft's Bing Pulse 2.0 Beta - The New Real-Time Analytics Tool Released

The immense power unleashed even by the normal smartphones is day by day being utilised for more and more powerful tasks previously deemed fit only for machines with a high computational power. Data analytics typically requires devices capable of a performing millions of mathematical operations per second. Thanks to the new types of software which efficiently harness the hardware, even our phones are capable of performing data analytics, that too, in real-time. Microsoft has released the 2.0 version of their real-time analytics platform: Bing Pulse.

From the past two years, the Bing Pulse has enabled voting and polling for news channels, governments, companies, charities, educational institutes, researchers and live events. The Bing Pulse 2.0 beta brings an easy-to-use, self-service version of this voting technology for users. The product will be free to use during the beta part. Microsoft claims that the Bing Pulse 2.0 will have even more features and better UX than the previous version.

Bing Pulse 2.0 beta features a highly flexible producer dashboard that the organizer is given full control of. This will allow audience to provide real-time feedback throughout the event. Also the organizers can push poll questions to the audience at any time, and also customize the look-and-feel of a Bing Pulse. Options for including integration of social media handles or hashtags is also provided. The producer also has the ability to immediately get graphical representation of the results, and share them in real-time by displaying them live on screens or by integrating them into video feeds, or embedding them on their web site.

With 80 percent of Americans using a smartphone or tablet to enhance their experience while watching news, sports and entertainment on television or attending live events, and by providing the Bing Pulse 2.0 on many other platforms. Microsoft will be able to capitalise on a yet-untapped source of income.
