After its initial launch in 2008 the Microsoft Surface has not been seen in use as much as it was expected. The winner of 2011 "Best of What's New" award from Popular Science magazine, the Samsung SUR40 has earned a name for itself by getting recognised of its potential by various other journals. This 4 inch thick LCD TV like table top surface has got some serious hardware installed in it. It is a Full-HD capable 40 inch display which runs on AMD Athlon II X2 dual-core CPU clocked at 2.9GHz with AMD HD6750M graphics installed. The screen has been installed with the largest Gorilla Glass sheet ever on a single product.

The entire visual display is a huge multi-touch screen with PixelSense, a new technology that recognises finger touches and other type of touches on the surface through the LCD panel and this has also helped slimming down the product a lot. The price tag of the device is expected to be around $7600 and $8400 when it starts shipping from January next year. This huge price tag is still not for regular costumers but is more suitable for business enterprises like banks, medicals and travel industry. With the Microsoft Surface 2.0 SDK now available, it would be interesting to see the use of this device using various applications.
