The newest version of Microsoft Office was put up for Customer Preview recently and owing to its immense popularity Microsoft has announced the arrival of Office Store. Office Store is Microsoft's online shopping feature where the user can get access to third party apps meant exclusively for Microsoft Office 2013 suite. This store that can be launched by the “Apps For Office” option present in Insert Tab of the Office ribbon, which contains web based apps that provide additional functionality to Microsoft Office products. The users can obtain information about the app, read and give reviews and buy them. The Office Store also provides administrative tools for enterprise users so that the company can monitor the apps that are being used by their employees and implement restrictions for app download.
This news brings joy to the developers as they can now start developing their apps on the new developer center. They can list their apps on the Seller Dashboard and after assigning licenses to the respective apps, put them up for sale. The users can buy these apps by using their Microsoft Account and Microsoft will retain 20% of the transaction for itself.
