Microsoft's announced that the Office and Sharepoint store is officially launching in india and 21 other new markets. The company will offer localised office and sharepoint storefronts in several languages including French, German, Spanish and Japanese. As of writing this article, we could access the Indian store on the link mentioned at the bottom. The store can also be accessed from within the latest MS Office applications and also from Office.com. The store has a ton of business and productivity apps from popular ISVs and individual developers. The company says that since the launch of the store in the US just a few days ago, Office users have downloaded approximately 1 million apps.

The store offers products across the range of MS products. The company says that the apps can even interact with external data. For example, if you are working on a spreadsheet or reading an email, the apps can load your customer CRM data in real time with the context of the application you're currently using. This could be a great tool to use real-time business insights integrated within the Office productivity toolset.

The company's made finding apps easier and is providing a platform for the individual developers and startup companies who haven't developed for MS platform before. The new development model company offers makes it easier for the devs to build, run and maintain the apps.

The Office and Sharepoint store provides users with an opportunity to promote and distribute their products globally or in selected markets as apps. These apps can be offered free of cost, on trial basis or as fully paid versions.

Other countries that are getting the localised stores are Australia, Canada, the UK, Japan, South Africa, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Belgium and Switzerland.

Microsoft also announced the Power BI for Office 365. It's a cloud-based business intelligence suit that relies on Excel to analyse and visualise your data. The tool, however will be made available later this year. The company didn't announce specific launch date for Power BI.
