Microsoft India Online Store Hack Update: Credit Card Information Stolen As Well!
Few days ago, we ran a story of #-Link-Snipped-# getting hacked. If you've ever bought anything from the MS Online India Store, we strongly advise you to stop everything you are doing right now and check your recent credit card transactions. You should also call your credit card company and alert them about any possible unauthorized access to your card. Why? Because the hackers seem to have accessed credit card information of several users. Earlier, it seemed that only passwords were exposed. Microsoft sent an email to all the customers / registered members informing them about the hack saying that further analysis of the data obtained from the website operator suggests that financial data might have been exposed as well.

As observed by #-Link-Snipped-#, Microsoft's Digital Store was being operated by Quasar Media which was storing user's information in plain text using MS Access. We are disappointed to hear this update. Those looking to seek help can contact Microsoft between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. (IST) at 1-800-102-1100.
In our opinion, Microsoft should have verified the security practices put in place by the website operator they had appointed to run their online store.
