LifePrint - A New Way To Print And Share Photos Wirelessly

A recent Kickstarter campaign has planned to fund a new yet, unique project - #-Link-Snipped-#. LifePrint is a wireless, portable printer that lets you print pictures from your smartphone. Using the LifePrint App, you can click a photo, edit it and send it to your printer to create a colourful, hard copy. Once the command is given, your photo will be printed in about 60 seconds regardless of where you are, as long as you have a 3G mobile connection.

The LifePrint project, which debuted on #-Link-Snipped-# with a $200,000 goal, has come out with a small, wireless printer which is around 1.5 lbs (around 680 gms) in weight and measures roughly 6.5 x 4.5 x 1.5 inches in size. The small size of the printer makes it portable and it can be carried to print photos on the go. Its film capacity is 10 prints and its battery capacity allows it to print around 30 photos on a full charge. The printer can be charged via a USB port. It uses a thermal processing print engine for rich and vibrant photos. The photos are quite small; about 3 x 4 inches in size.

The LifePrint App, which will be compatible with iOS and Android devices, enables the user to “follow” other friends and family members. The cool feature of this is, these printers are networked. Therefore, you'll be able to send and receive photos from friends and family all over the world. Followers can receive photos and these photos will be added to the print queue. The option to remove a photo from the print queue will be available. As and when the network grows, you will be able to “follow” celebrities, nature photographers, fashion models and sports teams. Photos clicked in the LifePrint App can be shared on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking site. The app also offers the users photo editing options like colour filters, picture stitching (combining multiple photos into one photo), adding ‘talk bubbles’ or captions and border selection.

The LifePrint printer is expected to cost around $200 and this does not include the cost of film for printing. The films are being priced at: 10 films for $10, 30 films for $20 and 100 films for $50. What do you think of this unique project? Share with us in the comment section.
