Letv Arrives In India With Letv Le 1s With Mirror-Surfaced Fingerprint Recognition & Le Max

Taking a cue from the huge success of Xiaomi, Letv (pronounced L-E-T-V) another Chinese technology conglomerate has decided to venture into the ever growing market of India. The company will be arriving in the country with an event scheduled for January 5th in New Delhi. While the company is planning to introduce many products like power banks and televisions, the spotlight will be on the smartphones. Letv will be launching two Android Lollipop smartphones, the Le 1s and Le Max. While both of these Android Lollipop smartphones are equipped with fingerprint recognition, the Le 1s is a little special with its mirror-surfaced fingerprint recognition.

Mirror-Surfaced

So what exactly is this mirror-surfaced fingerprint recognition technology? The answer is not as exciting as you think. The fingerprint sensor on the Letv Le1s also functions as a mirror. The company #-Link-Snipped-# that fashionistas will find it useful to check out their appearance on the move, but a mirror less than half an inch in diameter is pretty much useless for this purpose. The mirror-surfaced fingerprint recognition is claimed to be 99% accurate on first touch, this means you do not have to implement multiple tries to find the accurate position. The mirror-surfaced fingerprint sensor is also faster than conventional ones. For example the conventional sensor on the Le Max responds in 0.3 seconds and the mirror-surfaced one on the Le 1s works in 0.09 seconds. Letv claims that the mirror-surface is scratch resistant and stronger than painted-on sensors.

Letv Le 1s

The Letv Le 1s sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920x1080 pixels) resolution display. Underneath the hood, we find a MediaTek Helio X10 SoC that houses a 2.2 GHz 64-bit Octa-Core Cortex A-53 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 700MHz IMG C6200 GPU. All of this firepower is employed to run Android 5.1.1 that has been garnished with the company’s EUI skin. On the photography front, we have got a 13MP ISOCELL camera with LED flash on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front. The internal memory stands at 32GB and it cannot be expanded due to lack of a microSD card slot. The Letv Le 1s is powered by a 3000mAh battery.

Letv Le Max

If we come to the Letv Max, we find a humongous 6.33inch IPS panel display with Quad HD resolution. Underneath we find a Snapdragon 810 SoC that houses a 2GHz Octa-Core processor, Adreno 430 GPU and 4GB of RAM. On the rear we find a 21MP camera with flash and on the front a rather underwhelming 4MP one. Le Max has an internal memory of 64GB and you can add microSD cards of up to 128GB. The phone is powered by a 3500mAh battery.

We do not know the India pricing yet but we hope that the prices will be reasonable considering the fact that it’s the company’s foray into the country. The prices are expected to be revealed on 5th Jan and we shall update you then.
