Leoncino Could Be The Key To Unlock The Secrets Of The Birth Of Cosmos

How did the universe come into being? This is one of the most important questions since past few decades and debates and discussions are still going on in relation to it in almost every scientific community. The Big Bang –the most acceptable theory that defines how our world got into existence, is completely based on the results obtained from several scientific models and simulations that tried to explain the origin of our universe. However, every theory requires observational facts to remove the mists covering its validity and scientists at Indiana University might have found some light in order to do so.

With their years of research and study of astronomical experimental data, they have found out a galaxy some 30 million light years out from our home planet that could possibly be the missing link behind the validation of widely acceptable –The Big Bang Theory. In their recent publication in the Astrophysical Journal on May 12, 2016, John Salzer and his team proposed the founding of a dwarf faint blue colored galaxy, which is hitherto the best specimen to work on in order to unlock the secrets of the early state of the universe.

The dwarf galaxy has been named as Leoncino (AGC198691) meaning little lion and is located in the Leo Minor constellation. It is termed as dwarf as it consists of very few stars in comparison to that of our own Milky Way galaxy and therefore has a very less solar mass in aggregate. It looks faint blue in color because of the presence of lighter stars and gas clouds which has very high temperature, emitting light that goes down in the blue spectrum. As the stars are lighter in nature and the galaxy, has not so much aggregate of heavier metals, it indicates that it has suffered with less stellar transformation and hence can resemble with the galaxies of the earlier state of the cosmos.

Any other element except hydrogen and helium is regarded as heavy element in the field of astronomy as they have the potential to lead to synthesis of others. Our own Milky Way galaxy has witnessed quite a number of supernovae and thus has been through large stellar modifications and thus contains large concentrations of heavier elements that are formed during those stellar events, but Leoncino has been found containing very less concentrations of heavy metals in comparison to other galaxies that are discovered till date and thus is the best candidate to continue further research. Scientists have used spectroscopic analysis to study the shift in the band of the spectrum generated by it using the data of Hubble Space Telescope and other telescopes to come to the conclusion that it is mostly metal deficient and rich in clouds of gases.

All the notices have been drawn during the Arecibo Legacy Fast ALFA (ALFALFA) survey and scientists have confirmed that further written reports and research will lead to vital results which will help to get a more clear impression of the early universe.
