Lenovo ThinkPad 10 Upgrade Arrives This Summer With Windows 10 & Multiple Accessories

Lenovo has upgraded its enterprise tablet offering by spicing it up with Microsoft Windows 10 and a plethora of accessories for every business need. The Chinese electronics manufacturer unveiled the Lenovo ThinkPad 10 (2nd Generation) at the Lenovo Tech World event held last night in Beijing. The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 (2nd Gen.) sports a 10inch IPS panel Wide Ultra XGA resolution (1920x1200 pixels) display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The company gives you the option of choosing a 3M anti-glare film ($30) or a 3M 4-way privacy film ($70) for the display. Underneath the hood, we find an Intel Atom Z8500 or Z8700 SoC that houses a 2.24 GHz quad-core processor with 2 or 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 will be available with 64 or 128GB eMMC memory. A microSD card slot is provided to expand storage.

The ThinkPad Pen Pro, sold separately for 40 US dollars works in association with the WRITEit application that allows you to fill any text field with handwritten text. If you wish to convert the Lenovo ThinkPad 10 (2nd Gen.) into a fully fledged laptop you can add a ThinkPad 10 Folio Keyboard for $110 or ThinkPad 10 Ultrabook Keyboard for $119 while docking it on a $129 Tablet Dock. Connectivity options on the Lenovo ThinkPad 10 (2nd Gen.) range from Wi-Fi, micro-HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0, full sized USB ports and optional 3G and 4G LTE connectivity. On the rather unnecessary photography front we find a 5MP auto-focus camera on the rear with LED flash and a 1.2MP fixed-focus camera. If you still want to blow more money on the Lenovo ThinkPad 10 (2nd Gen.) you can buy the QuickShot cover for $45 that automatically launches the camera app with the flip of the corner. The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 (2nd Gen.) houses 1W stereo speakers, 3.5mm jack and triple-array digital microphones and is powered by 32Wh battery that is claimed to last for 10 hours on a single charge. After the juice is drained you have to buy the optional ThinkPad 10 DC Charger for 50 bucks.

Since the tablet is aimed at business users it comes with digital security measures like dTPM encryption, fingerprint reader or smart card reader. On the physical security front you can spend 55 USD for a Protector Case. If whim arises you can also go for a $ 50 Kensington MiniSaver Lock, a $40 ThinkPad Micro HDMI to VGA adapter, $30 Folio Wrap and a $10 Shoulder Strap. The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 (2nd Gen.) will arrive in stores soon after the launch of Windows 10 this summer at prices starting from $549. Fun fact, if you buy all the accessories you have to spend the cost of the tablet PC and an additional $229.
