Lenovo S860 Now In India - Features 5.3" Screen, Android With Quad-Core And 4,000 mAh Battery

Lenovo India has come up with a new mid-sized S-series smartphone cum phablet for the Indian market with Lenovo S860. The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (which is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat) and features a 5.3" capacitative touchscreen with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution IPS display. The phone is introduced in India at a price of Rs. 21,500 and the only thing it can brag about is its huge 4,000 mAh Li-Polymer battery, which offers a standby time of up to 28 days on 2G and a talk time of up to 24 hours on 3G (if the company's claims are to be believed). Powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad core MediaTek 6582 processor, the Lenovo S860 brings in 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage on the memory front, but no microSD card support.

The phone's dual cameras talk of 8 megapixel auto-focus with flash on the rear and a 1.6 megapixel fixed-focus on the front side. There are dual Micro-SIM card slots (GSM+GSM). On the connectivity front, the phone scores well thanks to - Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, HSPA+, GPRS, EDGE Satellite and GSM 900/1800/1900. On the titanium colored body, you will find a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro USB port.

The Lenovo S860 smartphone comes with some bulit-in award-winning Lenovo premium apps such as SHAREit - for rapid sharing of photos, apps and more, SECUREit for speeding up your device and protecting it against viruses, spam and malware and SYNCit that can be used to back up & restore all your contacts, SMS messages & call logs.

The phone was announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014) this year and with its launch in India, it can face stiff competition from its rivals such as Samsung Galaxy Grand 2, Nokia Lumia 1320 and the popular Moto X. Sudhin Mathur of Lenovo India believes that - just like Lenovo P780 and S660 that offer longer battery life than its peers, the Lenovo S860 might bring a cheer to Indian consumers.

Thread title read as -- "Features 5.3" Screen, Android With Quad-Core And 4,000 mAh Battery". I completely agree with the author, as the only noticeable thing for this phone is the bigger (4000 mAh) and better Li-Polymer battery.

Another statement that draw my attention was
The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (which is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat)
If the device android version is up-gradable to 4.4 kitkat, why is Lenovo box packing the device with an oldie 4.2 Jelly Bean?
