With increasing population, it is expected that by 2030, nearly 40% of our country will be urbanized. Keeping that thought in mind, this year, Sparkle 2017 hosts the theme ‘Smart Cities’. Students are encouraged to provide their ideas on Smart Transportation and Smart Infrastructure – the two pillars on which the urbanization and continuous development of a city depends. The ideas have to be based greener and cost efficient technologies.

Ravi Pandit, who is co-founder and CEO of the KPIT, thinks that the youth of our nation has both skills and positive energy to come up with revolutionizing greener and efficient technologies. Thus, Sparkle India 2017, wants to involve ideas of the current generation in rewriting the course of future technology. Finalists will not only be given prizes, but will be provided with exciting internship opportunities as well. Dr B.B Ahuja, Director, College of Engineering, Pune, also expressed his gratitude and was pleased to announce the start up support that would also be given to the finalists in association with COEP.

The registration process for Sparkle 2017 has already begun and will continue till 31st of August, 2016. Participants will have to submit their ideas and supporting documentations as per the guidelines mentioned in the Sparkle 2017 site only. Finalists will be later invited and will have to present their ideas in an exhibit to be held at Pune in early 2017.

The previous year’s competition received about 1,700 ideas for greener and efficient technologies and KPIT anticipates a similar response this year as well.

Today’s youth have a flare to make changes to the existing world. Those who want to bring a change by applying their skills and abilities should definitely take part. Not only will the participants get good exposure, but one of their ideas could bring actual change in our society. A change that can restore the balance of our environment leading to sustainable development of our nation.
