Jolla Sailfish OS With SDK & UI Introduced - MeeGo Gets Entirely New Wings!

It won't be inappropriate if we say that the phoenix of Jolla Sailfish OS has risen from the ashes of MeeGo. The Finland-based tech company - Jolla along with Sailfish have introduced the Sailfish Software Development Kit (SDK) for the community and showcased the new Jolla User Interface (UI) for the first time. Keeping it open-source, Jolla Sailfish OS has support for multiple chipset technologies (demoed at Slush). Boasting about the features, Marc Dillon, CEO of Jolla described the OS to be super-adaptable to the UIs of Smartphones, Tablets, Smart TVs and even automobiles. Bundled in the Sailfish SDK are the Mer Core's tools, Qt Creator, Jolla UI components, Sailfish UI framework and Sailfish handset APIs. Take a look at a couple of the UI screenshots -

Designed to be supportive of effortless multitasking, users will be able to interact with the apps directly from the home screen. Other than that, there is a Pulley Menu that brings at-a-glance peeks at status information and effortless personalization of the device to match the user's style and mood. We are currently looking into the SDK to explore the features and waiting for reviews. Check the UI demonstration from Jolla and let us know what you feel about the new OS in town through comments below.
