ISRO To Launch IRNSS-1C (That Carries PSLV-C26) On October 16th

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) today stated that the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C26, the vehicle that shall house the Indian Navigational Satellite IRNSS-1C, shall be launched come October 16th. The launch was previously to happen on October 10th, but was later postponed. PSLV-C26 shall take off at 01.32 hours on the D-day, from the First Launch Pad (FLP) of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, some 100 kms away from Chennai. The vehicle shall accommodate 1425kg weighing IRNSS-1C, which is the third satellite in the seven series of satellites to develop India's own navigation system at par with the GPS.

IRNSS-1C

Isro's work-horse PSLV-C26 will lift off at 01.32 hours on October 16, from the First Launch Pad (FLP) of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, about 100 kms from Chennai. The vehicle will carry 1425 kg IRNSS-1C, which is the third satellite in the series.

The satellite as of now is integrated with the vehicle, and the final inspection phase is in progress. The 67-hour countdown for this mission shall start at 06:32 hours on October 13th.
