Invisibility Cloak: Soon To Be Reality As Per Queen Mary's Recent Innovation

Peverell’s legendary invisibility cloak from the Harry Potter world has worked as the game changer for the next generation and inspired people to explicitly build an invisibility cloak for real. The sensation did not end with the last movie of HP, also the magical idea of author JK Rowling became an experimental test subject for the world. In the past five years, the trending nanotechnology and Metamaterial From Silver Dimers Could Be Used To Create Next Gen Faster PCs have tried to conceal the objects with its customized property, later it was built in many forms and now, everyday research work is adding more quality to the futuristic, #-Link-Snipped-#.

A team of scientists from Queen Mary University of London (#-Link-Snipped-#) was recently featured for their ubiquitous contribution in making an object disappear. Technically they have achieved such a consequence by propelling the research with the help of a composite material coupled with nano -particles which ultimately tinkers with the properties of the object’s surface.

Invisiblebody

QMUL school of electronic engineering and computer science department has worked with the UK industry to craft a practical cloaking device that can help curved surfaces to camouflage into plane surfaces. As reported, it is not market ready however it is the next step required to achieve the pre described goal. Owing to the technique of transformation optics, the research could embed a step-change in how antennas are tethered to their platform.

More of a masking system, the team first coated the curved surface with seven graded-index nanocomposite layers which in turn hides object as per requirement, without which the waves might have scattered. The team expressed that the implementation of noise rather manipulation of surface waves to the system might generate practical solutions to many industry oriented problems and on the way, they could also reveal the process to achieve the invisibility cloak. The complete research has been published in Scientific Reports and is funded by Engineering Physical Sciences Research Council.
