Indian Medical Consultation Firm Lybrate Launches Chatbot On Facebook Messenger

Continuing with our coverage of Self Destructing Messages Coming Soon On Facebook Messenger, we would like to inform you about a new chatbot on the Facebook Messenger service that will answer all your health related queries for free. Indian medical consultation start-up Lybrate have debuted their new chatbot that was created with the help of the Facebook’s chatbot platform created for businesses to get in touch with their users. For the uninitiated, Lybrate is a New Delhi based start-up which developed the India’s first mobile healthcare and communication platform. Lybrate claims that over 100,000 doctors are part of its portal.

While their main business, like rival app Practo is to get you appointments with doctors, Lybrate helps you get your queries answered by doctors for free or conduct paid one-on-one conversations. We tried out the Lybrate Messenger chatbot #-Link-Snipped-# on the Messenger for Web. Once you hit the Get Started icon to add Lybrate into your contact list it asks you to either ask queries about your health, or take a health quiz or get health tips. We tried the health tips option and it showed a couple of tips (hyperlinks) which opened in the Lybrate website. When you ask health queries the chatbot asks to be as specific as possible when it comes to your personal details such as age, height and weight along with your health query. The answers open on the website or you can ask for a summary to be delivered in the chat window. The feature that is missing from the chat service is the ability to schedule appointments or talk one-on-one with doctors, a feature that is still exclusive to the Android and iOS app of Lybrate.

Overall the service works as advertised but for complete medical analysis you should always consider visiting your nearest medical practitioner. Lybrate was established in 2014 by former employees of Snapdeal and Facebook. In the past few years it has completed successful rounds of funding from global and Indian investors.
