India Imports Over 15.8 Mn LTE Ready Device In Q1 2016 - 98% Of Which Are Smartphones

Market research company CyberMedia Research (CMR) released its 'India Quarterly LTE Device #-Link-Snipped-#on June 17, 2016. According to the report, more than 15.8 million LTE or 4G ready devices were shipped in India in the period January 2016 to March 2016. Out of this massive amount of LTE/4G devices, 97.9% were smartphones.

These means that India witnessed import of about 15.4 million 4G smartphones, which is roughly 63% of all the cellphones shipped in India during the same time lapse. The smartphones, hence, still dominate among all 4G device shipped in India.

Among the shipped smartphones, Samsung Gear S3 : Codename "Soils", Runs Tizensolely holds 32% 4G/LTE share, followed by Lenovo Vibe K5: Snapdragon 415, Android Lollipop and Amazon Exclusive For Rs. 6,999and LYF Water 7: Snapdragon 615, Fingerprint Sensor & VoLTE Launched For Rs. 12,999at 14% and 13% respectively. Other companies put together, stand at 42%. As for the tablets section whose share among 4G devices has reportedly fallen, Samsung rules out all the competitors with a whopping 58% in its hand. This is followed by Apple Introduces Nokia Storyteller-Like Feature, Dubbed As Memoriesat 16%, iBall at 13% and others comprising of 14%.

According to Faisal Kawoosa, Lead Analyst at CMR, among all devices smartphones were the first to bank upon the 4G/LTE technology. However, other devices are picking up the trend, with the 4G services spreading widely. One such is the DataCard market, which rose to 0.5% this quarter from 1% in the previous calendar. The slope is predicted to increase further as the time unfolds.

However, it saw just three market players, namely , Huawei, ZTE Unveils Blade A2 4G Phone With Fingerprint Scanner At CNY 699and Micromax, which have 40, 31, and 29 per cent share respectively. As more and more users tend to use the high speed internet connectivity, these devices are bound to win further as well.
