iBall Andi Uddaan: India’s First Safety Smartphone For Women; Features, Specs & Price Detailed

iBall has launched the Andi Uddaan, a smartphone that promises to keep women in India safe. For starters, iBall has added in a SOS button to the rear panel which can be pressed in case of an emergency. The button triggers a loud siren to alert people nearby. At the same moment it sends a pre-defined message with the person’s location to 5 contacts. Next it tries calling those five numbers and updates the person’s Facebook status with the geo-codes and the emergency message. It also comes with a pre-installed app called ‘ICE’ (In Case of Emergency) that can be used to add personal details like blood group, medical history and details of people who can be contacted in an emergency. Like the AT&T Launches The Kid Friendly Smartwatch FiLIP - It Keeps Parents Connected In Emergency smartwatch the iBall Andi Uddaan lets you configure safe zones and it sends notification messages to up to ten contacts. Parents will also be able to view the location of their loved ones at any moment.

Since the phone has been targeted at women, iBall has fitted in a Swarovski Zirconia Crystal on the home button to enhance the style quotient. The 5 inch IPS panel display comes with a qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution which means it has a pixels per inch figure of 220.The iBall Andi Uddaan runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) on a dual-core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 processor along with 512 MB of RAM. For photography, we find an 8MP auto focus camera with dual LED flash on the back and a 5MP BSI sensor at the front. The smartphone has got an internal memory of 4GB out of which a large chuck is devoted to the OS and pre-installed apps so to compensate for the lack of storage the company has added a 32 GB microSD card slot. As an introductory offer the Andi Uddaan is being sold at a price of Rs. 8999 instead of its MRP of Rs. 10,000. The company also throws in accessories like flip cover, additional back cover, a small pink purse and a screen scratch guard for free.
