Huawei's Own 'Kirin OS' Might Be Getting Ready Inside Their Labs

Samsung isn't the only one to think that to match their own kick ass hardware, they need their own software. Huawei, the Chinese Networking & Telecom MNC, is reportedly working on developing their own operating system called the 'Kirin OS'. It was in news recently that Google might be tying up with Huawei for producing their next Nexus smartphone. Moreover, the company has been rigorously pushing their devices in the Western market. Meanwhile, if you are wondering about the mysterious name of the OS, know that 'Qilin or Kirin' is a popular mythical creature found in many East Asian cultures as a symbol of prosperity or serenity. For Huawel, the reason behind developing a new OS could be that they want to minimize dependency on Google's Android.

Folks over at #-Link-Snipped-# reported that rumours about Huawei's new smartphone featuring their new self-developed OS has started making rounds. It's being said that the company's R&D department has been working on Kirin OS for close to three years now and this standalone operating system will work in accordance with their own Kirin chip.

Though these are only rumours, we believe it would be exciting to see a war between Samsung's Tizen OS and Huawei's Kirin OS as they start entering mainstream to compete against Android's strong hold in the gadget market across the world.

What are your thoughts about a new OS from Huawei? Do you believe that the company needs first to improve its hardware and then focus on the software? Will Kirin OS be able to make its mark? Share your opinions with us in comments below.
