Huawei Announces MediaPad X2 At The Mobile World Congress 2015

Huawei has launched a new device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. We are using the word device because we aren’t sure whether the MediaPad X2 is a tablet, smartphone or a phablet. The Chinese company is calling the MediaPad X2 a phablet, even when it has a 7-inch Full HD (1200 x 1920) IPS panel display with pixels per inch figure of 323. Normally 7-inch display equipped devices are considered as tablets and devices with displays of 5.3 to 6.9 inches are phablets. Underneath the massive 7inch screen of the Huawei MediaPad X2 we find a HiSilicon Kirin 930 chipset that houses a 64-bit 2GHz A53 CPU and a 64-bit Mali-T628 GPU. The Huawei MediaPad X2 will be sold in 16GB and 32GB internal memory variants with 2 and 3GB RAM respectively.

On the camera front, Huawei goes all out by giving the MediaPad X2 a 13MP rear camera with flash and it includes lytro capability and a promise of better low-light photography. The front camera is an above average 5MP sensor with f2.4 aperture and 22mm wide angle lens. The Huawei MediaPad X2 is powered by a 5000mAh battery that will offer 12 hours of video streaming, 15 hours of internet surfing or 60 hours of music playback. Huawei has a Smart PA chip and a DTS surround sound technology to make MediaPad X2 a good movie viewing tablet. Connectivity features include a 4GHz dual-Wi-Fi antenna, microUSB and Bluetooth. The Huawei MediaPad X2 is dual-SIM enabled Android Lollipop phablet that offers clearer voice calls with the help of its dual microphone setup.

The Huawei MediaPad X2 will be sold in moonlight silver and amber gold variants. Pricing and availability information is awaited.
