HP Inc. has now introduced the Elite x2, a tablet-cum-laptop which is the successor of the HP Spectre X2. This tablet has come into highlight for two reasons. One, it has an astounding similarity to the recently unveiled Microsoft Surface Pro 3 tablet. It is clearly evident that the design is same as that of Surface Pro 3.

However, when it comes to features, the Elite x2 is pretty dissimilar to Microsoft’s tablet. And that is the second reason why the device has come into highlight. Elite x2 is not the regular table you find in a market. It is tough, it is not easily breakable and even when it breaks, it is easier to repair other tablets. If you drop a Surface Pro 3 like tablet and smash the screen, you can bid it adieu. But, if you drop Elite x2 and the screen breaks, it is fixable back to the original form within minutes.

HP is claiming that Elite x2 is their premium laptop with aluminium design. Its just 8.1 mm thick and has a built in kickstand with an adjustability of 150 degrees. The device features the latest Windows 10 OS and has a 6th Generation Intel Core M vPro processor. As mentioned above, the device is rugged and features the Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen along with two grades of aluminium alloy.

The tablet-cum-laptop provides the choice between two keyboards. The selected keyboard will be docked in the aluminium base and can be removed any time for usage. The first one is the HP Advanced Keyboard which is for those who wish to have a greater security in their laptops. It has an NFC sensor in the touchpad and a built in smart card reader that ensures user identity and provides the additional security. The second one is the HP Travel Keyboard which is a comparatively thinner keyboard and adds only 395 grams to the weight of the device.

Under connectivity, the laptop offers both Thunderbolt ports and USB-A ports. It provides Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G as well as 4G connectivity. The Elite x2 also includes the HP Active Pen with App launch. The pen has pressure sensors that provide a better control to users while drawing or writing on screen. Also, the pen features a programmable Bluetooth Application launch button that can be used to launch OneNote or any other Windows application.

For now, the availability of the laptop is only in US. The pre-order of the laptop begins from 23rd November. The price of the base model is $899 and the shipping is expected to begin early January next year.
