Google Ships Updated Version Of Google Glass To New Users

If you are planning to get your hands on a Google Glass by being a part of the Explorer Program, now seems to be a good time for it. Google has just announced on the #-Link-Snipped-# that it has started shipping a tweaked version of the Google Glass to its new users. In the past year, Google had concentrated on improving the firmware of the Google Glass. While this managed to improve battery life by 20% and speed of voice search by 10%, its users always wanted to see some improvement in system memory. Google has acknowledged these requests and has upgraded the RAM on the wearable from 1GB to 2GB. Speaking to Google refreshes Glass hardware, but current owners won't get upgraded - The Verge Google Glass product manager, Steve Lee said that this will help the product initialise apps more quickly and users will be able to run more Glassware apps concurrently.

Apart from this hardware upgrade, Google has rolled out some new software features. In order to take good images from the 5MP camera on the Glass it has added a viewfinder that shall help the users frame the shots better. To display the viewfinder you have to utter the phrase “ok glass, show the viewfinder” and it shall display four white Ls on each corner of the screen and then you can proceed to capture the shot either in a creepy manner which involves winking or you can bark the command “ok glass, take a picture,” We would advise the third way though which is much simpler, as it involves pressing the camera button. Since Google Now cards have worked brilliantly on this device, the company has added two new ones. One which lets you know where you have parked your car and the second reminds you when your online retailer has shipped your package.

As you might have read yesterday, #-Link-Snipped-# and Google confirms that it is the updated version. The only bad news in this development is that early Glass users will not receive the tweaked model.
