Google's Advanced Technologies and Projects (ATAP) division #-Link-Snipped-# a developer edition tablet for its 3D mapping initiative, Project Tango. As you might be aware Google had announced details about Project Tango Google Unveils 3D Smartphone Platform Named 'Project Tango' when it unveiled a prototype smartphone which would be used to capture indoor dimensions. The Project Tango tablet which was developed by Google in collaboration with NVIDIA comes with a software kit for developers to help them build applications that can track full three dimensional motion and capture surfaces in an environment.

The tablet itself is a computing powerhouse as it is laced with some impressive specs. The seven inch tablet with a full HD display is powered by a quad core NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor and has 4GB of RAM. The tablet lacks a microSD card slot because the internal memory of the tablet goes up to a whopping 128GB. The tablet has a motion tracking camera and a depth sensor. Connectivity options are a plenty, as you get WiFi, BTLE, and 4G LTE. While Google was stingy in providing more details, the folks at #-Link-Snipped-# have managed to get their hands on to a tablet and done some digging. They have found that one of the two cameras on the back of the tablet is a 4MP sensor that is loaded with two-micron pixels. The camera is very much similar to the UltraPixel sensor in HTC One and offers unmatched light sensitivity and capture speeds. The second camera on the tablet with a 170-degree wide-angle fisheye lens will capture motion on a broader scale.

Do not expect the tablet to land at your local electronics store shelves any time soon as Google has explained on the #-Link-Snipped-#, that the tablet has been designed only for professional developers and will be available in limited quantity. Developers interested in making applications for this platform have to spend $1024 (60610 INR) for the kit. Google assures that it will provide updates for the software algorithms and APIs as the project moves along. Since the tablet goes on sale at a later date this year, Google has asked interested developers to sign up for updates.
