Google QuickOffice iOS App Free Download Available - Use Microsoft Office Files on iPhone Or iPad

After having acquired QuickOffice in June 2012, Google had started working on making it available for each and everyone. Looks like that goal has been met by freeing the app for everyone. Yes, it is official. Google has made free downloads of the QuickOffice mobile app on iOS through iTunes. So now, users having a Google Account will be able to start viewing and editing Microsoft Office files for free. Previously, the app was only free to Google Apps for Business subscribers - everyone else had to buy the app for $14.99 for the pro version or $19.99 for the pro HD version. "Converting old files to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides is still the easiest way to share and work together, and we're working every day to make the files you convert look better," Alan Warren, engineering VP of Google Drive, wrote in a blog post.

Google's Quickoffice iOS app lets you edit Microsoft Office documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. Once you’ve installed Quickoffice iOS app, take note of some new features, including a refreshed icon, the ability to create .ZIP folders, and the ability to view charts in Excel and Powerpoint files. There's actually a lot more free stuff in the bag. The company is offering an additional 10GB of Google Drive storage for free for two years if you sign up your Google account for the new Quickoffice app by September 26. You should know that Quickoffice integrates seamlessly with Google Drive, allowing you to access your files safely from anywhere. You also don’t need to install separate versions anymore since the app works across your devices.

The Quickoffice app requires iOS 5.0 or later and is getting a lot of positive ratings. Now, anyone who is doing online editing will smell that Microsoft Office apps for iOS are in for a trouble, since they are still only available for Microsoft 360 subscribers. Not only that, but the other competititor - Apple is making iWork free for the buyers of the new iPhone 5S. Eek.

Let us know if you are trying out the app right away because it is free now and also because it is so good. Like Google puts it, its now free for students, businesses, nonprofits, governments, consumers and anyone with a Google Account.
