Google Nose Beta Is Google's April Fool Prank

Google maintains the tradition of fooling people on April fool's day and 'Google Nose Beta' is Google's this year's offering for all the fools. Google's homepage invites the users to try out their new service with a message "New! What’s that smell? Find out with #-Link-Snipped-#". Upon clicking the link, you'd be taken to Google Nose Hompage that says "Smelling Is Believing" (seriously?). The whole page takes you through the various advancements in technology that Google has discovered. Here's what it says -

slide

    • Coming to your senses: Go beyond type, talk and touch for a new notation of sensation.
    • Your internet sommelier: Expertly curated Knowledge Panels pair images, descriptions and aromas.
    • Take a wiff: The Google Aromabase - 15 M+ scentibytes.
    • Don't ask, don't smell: For when you're wary of your query - SafeSearch included.
...and then shows off this video -

    • Google NoseBETA leverages new and existing technologies to offer the sharpest olfactory experience available:
    • Street Sense vehicles have inhaled and indexed millions of atmospheric miles.
    • Android Ambient Odour Detection collects smells via the world's most sensible mobile operating system.
    • SMELLCDâ„¢ 1.8+ high-resolution compatible for precise and controlled odours.
Hitting the 'Try Google Nose Beta' button will take you to random search results pages viz. 'Garlic Smell', 'Unattended litter box', 'Waffle', 'Campsite' and random search results.

Job nice done, Google. We love the seriousness with which you create these April Fool pranks!

Google's going ahead with announcement of YouTube shutdown (another April Fool's joke) and now announcing 'Gmail Blue' (because the brown was boring?). Google's video (below) shows that the Gmail Blue technology took 6 years to develop. Gmail Blue offers everything 'blue' in color - right from the text, to text editor control buttons, the overall interface etc.

    Seriously Google? 😕

The video link of the shutdown of YouTube :

They say that YouTube founders had started the website as a contest to find out the best video and that YouTube will delete all its videos from today. Come on Google you have to do better than that. 😀

Actually, so many pranks made it uninteresting! It was quite easy to figure out between a prank and real thing. Hopefully things get better next time 😁
