Google Chromebook Pixel 2 Specs, Features And Pricing Out

After a lot of speculations and rumours, Google has finally come out and have announced their second version of Chromebook Pixel. The first Chromebook pixel was launched back two years ago in 2013. It wasn’t exactly what you’d say a common man can afford and neither is the second instalment. Just like its predecessor, Chromebook Pixel 2 comes with great features but with a great cost.

Let’s look at the specs of the device. Most of the specs are similar to the Chromebook Pixel except a few. It weighs a good 1.5 kg and lacks visible screws and vents. The display of the laptop has higher resolution than Apple’s new MacBook and is still a touchscreen laptop. The great resolution is very useful when you need to pinch and zoom. Google is actually unveiling two models of the laptop: one is the base model with lower price (comparatively) and other is with the higher price. This model called the ‘LS’ model where LS is short for Ludicrous Speed.

Both the models have a resolution of 2560x1700 pixels but while the base model will come with the new Intel Core i5 processor, the LS model has the faster Core i7 processor. The base model has 8GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory and the LS model has 16GB RAM and 64GB internal memory. Both the model will have the much in news USB Type-C Port (two actually), but unlike the new Apple MacBook, it also has two traditional USB 3.0 ports. The keyboard of both the base and LS model is backlit and the light comes up if you take your hand near the keyboard and fades if you take it away.

The battery of both the models have improved over its antecedent and can offer upto 12 hours of continuous usage according to Google. Not only that, Google also claims that 2 hours of battery life can be obtained by just 15 minutes of charging the laptops. And if you wish to know about how much battery is left in the device, there is strip on the laptop’s cover and if you tap on it, it shows the amount of battery left. The base model will cost a good $1000 and the LS model will cost $1300 and is already available for purchase in Google Store in the States.
