Google Chromebit - A HDMI Dongle That Converts Any Display Into A Computer

In today's world everybody wants to do their work as fast as possible and to do so, they buy highly priced high configuration computers. Though that might be the case, Google’s Chrome OS has been around for some time now to serve the same purpose but with lesser configuration at economical pricing. Now, Google and ASUS have brought a new amazing product that converts any display around you into a computer. It is a HDMI dongle named Chromebit which when connected to the HDMI port of the display, turns it into a computer running Chrome OS. Google claims that ChromeCast and Chromebit are two different devices. Chromebit does not stream like ChromeCast, but it actually converts the device into a computer. Reports suggest that it is going to be costlier than ChromeCast but still be available under 100$ price tag.

The Chromebit sports a configuration that makes it a super portable device. It is powered by a Rockchip RK3288 processor along with a quad core Mali760 graphics. This dongle has a 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of solid state drive. Its connectivity options are very impressive as we find dual band 802.11ac Wifi and Bluetooth 4.0 on the specs list. The design of Chromebit is simple and colourful. It is available in three different colour options. The HDMI end of the dongle swivels making it more useful when there is less space to connect and it eliminates the need for HDMI cable. The other end of dongle has a full size USB 2.0 port.

Well, this is not the only device that converts a display into computer. Later this summer, Intel is also going to launch the ‘Intel’s Compute Stick’ that will run Windows 8.1 and be priced at 149$.
