Eyeglasses turn into sunglasses to make the 'four-eyes' cool!

We've a good news for all the four-eyes of the world. Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed a new technology that turns your eyeglasses into cool-looking sunglasses - within seconds. Remember, the latest advancement does much more than your age-old photosensitive glasses. The problem with photosensitive glasses is you have absolutely no control over the change of shade. That is, if you are out in the sun and wearing a baseball cap - the glasses would turn clearer even when you want them to stay shaded; and you've no control over it.

Research team led by Anna Österholm from the GIT found out that the traditional photosensitive glasses available in the market do not meet every user's needs. These glasses fail at blocking harsh light - like the one reflected off snow. Also, the change of shade typically takes several minutes. In several situations, this may not prove very useful. The researchers set out to address all these problems and developed a new type of lens that can have very wide range of applications.

The new lens can make the switch from clear to darker within seconds when a small electric charge is applied. The wearer has full control over the color of the lens and can also match full range of hues typically available in the commercial sunglasses. The new technique can also be adopted by the industry easily for mass production of the glasses that can be user controlled. Ain't that cool, folks? Do let us know your thoughts.
